AFROEQUALITY PROJECT-” Empowering People of African Descent: Hate Speech, Violence and Racism- Training on Digital Skills and Civic Participation”

Call for external evaluator

SCI-Hellas, on behalf of AFROEQUALITY consortium, is looking for an expert evaluator whose role will be to assure efficacy (i.e. to assess the extent to which the project has met its objectives and its foreseen results), based on an “ad hoc” evaluation plan, encompassing description of tools and indicators used.

The evaluation will be performed at mid and final stages of the project. In this context, the steps to be followed, as part of the process evaluation, are:
1. Development of the methodology of process evaluation (evaluation plan)
2. Conduct surveys to evaluate the efficacy of the implementation of the project, at mid and final stages.
The evaluator will develop a draft interim (15 pages, in English) and final evaluation report (40 pages, in English), examining the project’s achievements/results with regard to the original planning and outputs / results foreseen.

The evaluation will be performed between mid (M11-M16) (April 2025-October 2025) and final stages (M21-M26) (March 2026-August 2026) of the project.

We are looking for an expert with:

  ● a high level of expertise and professional experience in cultural studies, sociology, social anthropology, race studies and media studies
  ● experience in academia and/or Non-For-Profit Organisations especially those working with minorities and their social inclusion and active participation.
  ● a deep knowledge in the field of public engagement, diversity, and inclusivity in innovation processes.
  ● previous experience in proposal evaluation
  ● very good knowledge of English

Evaluation Criteria:

SCI-Hellas will follow a process of selection, based on the following criteria:

  ● Experience in the design of evaluation methodologies and tools, and carrying out evaluation process (30%);
  ● Experience in working with in international environment and cooperate with academia and non for-profit organization in different countries international level. (20%);
  ● Knowledge and experience in working with the evaluation of EU-funded projects under CERV or other EU-funding programs (20%);
  ● Capacity to work in English is required. Knowledge of other languages from the consortium (Italian, Spanish, Greek) will be considered an asset (10%);
  ● Use of innovative or improved elements (30%);

Afroequality project in a nutshell

Aims:
  ● Strengthening members of the African communities in Greece, Italy and Spain through research, empowerment and dissemination activities.
  ● Investigating for the first time the culture and integration of African communities in the selected countries.
  ● Adopting an intersectional approach, it addresses Afrophobia and discrimination faced by people of African descent.

The project is geared towards building trust between the local and the African communities in the partner countries.

It is promoting gender mainstreaming and battling structural racism in respective national contexts.

Target groups:

⮚ people of African descent between 18-45 years old
⮚ the general public

Activities:

A) Development of a Plan combating racism through active civic participation of people of African origin at local level with the aim:
a. To explore perceptions about and representations of people of African descent in the public sphere
b. To map incidents of xenophobia, Afrophobia and racism at the local level
c. To map the needs of the African diaspora in terms of participation and inclusion in the local community,
d. To map ways of engagement and interaction with host country culture
e. To identify good practices promoting civic participation of people of African descent in the host population
B) Capacity Building including training activities on cultural representation resilience-building on issues of discrimination, racism, hate speech and other hate-related crimes and instances of violence, such as misogynoir. More specifically
a. To provide training resources towards the capacity building of POC to address hate speech through media literacy skills
b. To provide training materials on digital education and digital citizenship
c. To promote the AFRO culture in the 3 partner countries
C) Communication initiatives to fight Afrophobia, xenophobia and hate speech– including policy recommendations in all partner countries for culture and hate speech (taking counsel from the African community); participation activities in the social media (Insta-stories), and an empowerment App.
